Hello! My name is Shelby and I live in Akita, Japan. I enjoy my job as an English teacher and traveling around Japan in my free time. I moved here in 2018 and I plan on staying here for a long time! I love how laid back and easy going life is in rural Japan. I can’t imagine leaving all of it behind anytime soon.
After so many people telling me I should start a blog, I finally caved and started one. I hope to connect with people through this blog or just provide some information about Japan for those who are curious. Of course, my blog will talk about many different places in Japan, but mainly it will be about the North East region (the countryside) since this is where I live. I hope to spread awareness about how wonderful rural Japan can be, and how there’s more to Japan than just Tokyo. Unfortunately, the population of these rural cities is dwindling fast, and these unique places and experiences might be gone within the next few decades or so. If you ever have the chance to visit rural Japan, I’d highly recommend you take that chance because it will be the experience of a lifetime.
