Iwate
Iwate is the second largest prefecture in Japan and is known for its beautiful coastlines, cherry blossoms, and sprawling mountains. One of the main attractions of Iwate is the capital city; Morioka. Tourists come here to learn about the rich history of Iwate, participate in lively festivals, and to try Iwate’s three famous noodles. Due to the geographical diversity, Iwate is known for a variety of delicious dishes that have components from the ocean, mountains, and rivers. Another notable place in this prefecture is Hiraizumi Town, which is a World Heritage Site. There are thousands of historical sites and national treasures here that date back to 12th century Japan. Iwate is a charming prefecture that boasts stunning scenery, historical and cultural sites, welcoming locals, and delightful local food. It’s definitely worth exploring, as it will very likely be an extraordinary experience!
Geibikei Gorge & Yugendo Cave
Taking a boat cruise along the Satetsu River while looking up at towering limestone cliffs was such a surreal moment. There are secrets hidden within the cliff sides, and finding them was part of the fun. I also tested my strength with lucky stones, and explored Japan’s oldest limestone cave.
